AXE Ventures Leads Seed Round in Kiip Corporation, Operator of Global Medical-Tourism Platform iipuda
AXE Ventures has led the seed round of Kiip Corporation, operator of the global medical-tourism platform iipuda, after field-driven due diligence — from joint clinic visits to marketing tests with real overseas customers.
Joint clinic due diligence, three-way meetings with clinic directors, and demand checks with real overseas customers — an investment verified in the field
AXE Ventures (CEO Taehoon Kang), an early-stage technology investor, announced on June 19 that it has participated as the lead investor in the seed round of Kiip Corporation (CEO Caleb Park), the operator of iipuda, a global medical-tourism platform.
The seed round follows a pre-seed investment from Antler Korea, the Korean arm of global venture capital firm Antler, and brings the company's cumulative funding to roughly KRW 1 billion across new equity and multiple SAFE investments. Alongside lead investor AXE Ventures, co-investors include Hong Kong-based Fantastic Wellness, the Busan Center for Creative Economy & Innovation, and AI-focused investor Unnoted.
AXE Ventures cites two grounds for the investment: the structural growth of Korea's medical-tourism market, and iipuda's approach to resolving that market's "trust bottleneck" with technology. Foreign patients visiting Korea reached a record 1.17 million in 2024, and payments made with foreign-issued cards at Korean medical institutions exceeded KRW 1.4 trillion the same year — with dermatology and plastic surgery taking a large share of foreign-patient spending as the market's center of gravity shifts toward aesthetic care and procedures. In AXE's assessment, iipuda combines its own five-step clinic verification system — spanning specialist consultations, clinician background reviews, and on-site inspections — with an LLM-based multilingual consultation engine to target the "objective trust" problem that advertising- and agency-driven models have failed to solve.
The decision turned on voices from the field, not IR materials. During due diligence, AXE Ventures sourced candidate partner clinics for iipuda and joined the company's sales pitches on site, confirming adoption intent and contract potential at partner clinics — including premium dermatology clinics and practices run by board-certified dermatologists. In parallel, early marketing-efficiency tests with real overseas medical-tourism customers delivered top-tier click-through rates for the industry, cross-validating both sides of the two-sided platform. "We made the decision after directly confirming the responses on both sides — clinic directors on the supply side and overseas customers on the demand side," said Jinwoo Han, Principal at AXE Ventures.
The hands-on support has continued since the investment. As the Busan Center for Creative Economy & Innovation reviewed joining the same round, AXE shared its due-diligence findings, investment thesis, and post-investment management plans, helping bring the center in as an investor. The firm is also contributing to business operations, designing the data structures the company needs for follow-on fundraising and more rigorous business management — a window into AXE Ventures' investment philosophy and approach.
iipuda connects foreign users seeking Korean medical services — plastic surgery, dermatology, dentistry, and more — with verified Korean medical institutions, currently supporting four languages: Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese (Taiwan), and Simplified Chinese. Users browse clinics and request consultations directly in the app. Since its official launch, the platform has reached roughly 10,000 monthly users and 35 partner medical institutions in Korea. The company plans to deploy the new funding to strengthen its global marketing capabilities and expand local partnerships in key overseas markets including Japan, English-speaking regions, Taiwan, and China.
"iipuda is a team aimed precisely at a fundamental market problem: delivering verified trust to premium, safety-conscious medical consumers," a spokesperson for AXE Ventures said. "Building on the practical viability we confirmed in the field and the founder's execution, we will accompany the company closely through its global expansion — from data and operations support to follow-on fundraising."
Kiip Corporation was also selected — in recognition of its technology and global growth potential — as one of the 100 companies in the eighth cohort of ChangGoo ("window" in Korean), the Google Play startup support program run jointly with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development.
